Renshu Isshogai
The style (-Ryu) of karate used at Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries is Renshuu Isshogai, which translates to Lifetime Practice. Students learn that to gain knowledge and wisdom in oneself and one’s form requires determination, perseverance, and focus. In today’s modern world, this is nearly impossible with as many distractions as there are stars in the universe. Yet, as Jesus taught in Matthew 29:10 states (NIV): “…With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Christian Ministry
Our dojo’s philosophy is based on Jesus’s teachings in 2 Peter 3:18 (NIV). “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.“
Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries teaches students how to use strength as a knowledgeable and wise Christian. Each promotion (e.g., increase in rank) requires memorizing specific Bible verses while also learning specific forms (“kata”), stances (“dachi”), strikes and blocks.
Black Belt School
Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries is a black belt school. This means that students can perfect their forms and techniques while gaining the knowledge to train others.
While exact numbers are unknown, it is estimated than .001% of martial artists reach 8th level of Black Belt (“8th Dan”), Shihan Greg Richey has achieved it.
Shihan Richey is known nationwide by names like the U.S. Black Belt Federation and Erolin 3D Martial Arts.
Tournaments
Louisiana Martial Arts Ministries is proud to be a member of the Warrior of God tournament circuit. The ministry supports building “God’s Kingdom both locally and internationally through benevolence, evangelism, and equipping” in partnership with Wansai International.
